The Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at CUNY is committed to making graduate education accessible and affordable. We offer a variety of merit-based and interest-based scholarship opportunities for applicants to the following programs:

  • M.A. in Journalism
  • M.A. in Journalism – Bilingual (Spanish/English) (in-person)
  • M.A. in Engagement Journalism

Scholarships are awarded through a holistic review of each application, taking into consideration academic achievement, professional experience, leadership, interests, and future goals. No separate scholarship application is required.

To receive priority consideration for scholarships, applicants should submit a complete application by the Priority Decision deadline of December 15. Applicants who submit by the General Application Deadline of March 1 will continue to be considered for available scholarship funding.

Scholarship opportunities remain available throughout the admissions cycle; however, funding is limited, and awards may become more competitive as available resources are allocated. We encourage prospective students to apply as early as possible to maximize their consideration for scholarships.

If you have questions about scholarship opportunities or financial aid, please contact the Admissions Office. We are happy to discuss the resources available to help make your graduate education a reality.
