Financing Your Education
As the only publicly supported graduate journalism school in the Northeast, the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at the City University of New York provides one of the best values in advanced journalism education in the U.S.
Still, we offer a rigorous, full-time academic program, and we recognize the challenges students face in paying for it.
Most students rely on a combination of financial resources, including personal savings, family assistance, scholarships awarded by the Newmark J-School and outside organizations, federal and state loans, and need-based financial aid. Also helping to offset costs for M.A. in Journalism and M.A. in Engagement Journalism candidates is a required summer internship, which we guarantee will pay a minimum of $4,000.
