Damian Jon Geminder

Damian Jon Geminder, a graduate of the Class of 2015 at the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at CUNY, died in New York City on April 20, 2023, nearly two months after he suffered a massive heart attack at the age of 33. His parents, Rev. Randolph Jon and Donna Geminder, were at his bedside when he passed.

Damian served as editor and director of public education for Feminists for Life (FFL), an organization “dedicated to systematically eliminating the root causes that drive women to abortion,” according to its website. Over the years, he has also worked for Patch Media, Newsday, Amityville Magazine, and NBCUniversal.

A J-School classmate remembered him for his quick wit, and his colleagues described him as “brilliant, hilarious, and kind.” Geminder graduated magna cum laude from Adelphi University in 2011 before going on a few years later to study for his M.A. in Journalism at the Newmark J-School.

The entire Newmark J-School family extends its deepest condolences to Damian’s family, friends, and FFL colleagues for their loss. Arrangements for his burial services will be through the Powell Funeral Home in Amityville, Long Island.
