Video: An Evening with Mayor Koch

Edward I. Koch reflected on his three terms as New York City mayor from 1978 to 1989 and the political legacy that influences the city’s politics to this day at a New York Press Club event held at the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism on January 19, 2011. In a far-reaching discussion, Koch also commented on how the relationships between Democrats and Republicans have changed since he was a U.S. Congressman in the 1970s. Washington was no less contentious then, he said, but members of Congress were civilized enough to have meals together across party lines, something they no longer do.
