Closer to home, Terrence Cullen contributed to the paper’s coverage of the fatal police shooting of an unarmed man in a dark Brooklyn public housing stairwell.

•Speaking of the Brown case: Reed Dunlea captured video of Police Commissioner William Bratton moments after the city’s top cop was splattered by fake blood during local protests. Reed’s Vine of the incident was picked up by NBCNewYork.com.

•Caroline Lewis’ story about Christian healthcare cooperatives found a home in Crain’s New York Business.

•Aliza Chasan’s participatory budgeting report made the Bensonhurst Bean.

•Pamela Granda and Gwynne Hogan contributed to Voices of NY’s package on President Obama’s executive order on immigration.

•Lots of action on our News Service: Natalie Abruzzo reported on Thanksgiving dinners donated to Staten Island residents still recovering from Sandy. Leila Falls covered a backpack giveaway at a Harlem school.  Bianca Flowers reported on a soup kitchen’s struggle to feed folks. Kiratiana Freelon hit Madame Tussauds for a holiday brite. Pearl Macek covered a conference on bringing safer stoves to developing countries. Reem Nasr spotlighted a new program that helps boxers get an education.

•Cole Rosengren, on assignment for The Hunts Point Express, reported on the merging of two Bronx congregations.
