The Center for Community and Ethnic Media is organizing a half-day advertising conference on Friday, April 13 for the members of metro New York-based community and ethnic media. The conference will have a panel with representatives from four city agencies and a three-hour training on online marketing.

Session 1: Understanding New York City’s Advertising Practices, 1:00 p.m.–2:00 p.m.
Representatives of city agencies will explain the policies of their agencies/departments for advertising in the community and ethnic media. They will also explain how this media can reach out to city agencies and departments to secure advertising. The event will offer an opportunity to both city officials and the media to connect and better understand each other’s policies, practices and expectations.

Session 2: Marketing for Digital Publications Training, 2:30 p.m.–5:30 p.m.
The media’s transition to the digital sphere offers potential for additional revenue streams. This three-hour long training led by digital media strategist Marc Allon Pultuskier will help media professionals develop new revenue streams and grow existing ones. The topics covered during the training will include:
- Essentials of marketing for online publications
- How to determine advertising rates and design media kits for online publications
- Best marketing practices and strategies
- Industry standards for ad campaigns from mainstream advertisers
Pultuskier is a digital media strategist with expertise in business development, marketing, product development, and new venture management, who currently works as the Director of Digital Strategies at the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. Prior to that, he worked with NPR, PBS, the Institute for Nonprofit News, the Public Radio Satellite System, American Public Media and Public Radio International in various roles, leading business and product development and managing top strategic lines for business including digital services, program and member development, and satellite/IP distribution technologies. In these roles, he helped create revenue-generating ventures and grew business models and verticals into sustainability.
He earned his bachelor’s degree in Management and Systems from the Cass Business School and holds master’s degrees from the London School of Economics and Political Science and the University of Southern California’s Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism.
