The premier magazine for news on diversity in higher education has profiled Associate Professor Sandeep Junnarkar, an interactive media instructor at the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism. The article looks at Junnarkar’s role in preparing students for the shift to electronic media as well as his efforts to attract a diverse student population to the CUNY J-School.
In addition to his teaching duties, Junnarkar, a native of India, serves as president of the South Asian Journalists Association (SAJA). He also produces Lives in Focus, a multimedia Web site that covers underreported issues. Earlier this year, he won a $17,000 New Voices grant for the Family Life Behind Bars project, which will create a social networking platform on the Internet for relatives of prisoners.
