The NYCity News Service has launched its multi-media, New York City-driven coverage of the presidential election.
News Service reporters, who are students at the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism, have been working for weeks on stories about the election as seen through the eyes of New Yorkers – producing pieces on newly sworn-in citizens registering to vote, city kids’s excitement about the contest, and warnings not to wear campaign buttons and T-shirts to the polls.
On Election Day, scores of News Service reporters will fan out around the city – armed with cameras, notebooks, and video and audio recorders – taking the pulse of the New York on an historic day.
Among the planned features:
- NYCity Snapshot, an interactive map that links to scores of pictures, and audio interviews conducted with New Yorkers throughout the five boroughs.
- Live video coverage from across the city as the results come in.
- A running Twitter feed of our reporters’ items from the field.
Many of the News Service’s political stories, dating to Super Tuesday, have been featured on the Huffington Post’s Off The Bus site. Other political reporting sites, including Politico, the New York Observer’s Politicker blog, and the New York Daily News’ Mouth of the Potomac blog, have also linked to the News Service’s coverage.
As always, all NYCity News Service coverage is available for pickup by media outlets. Since going online in February, 2007, News Service work has been featured by outlets ranging from WNYC Radio to the Daily News to such community newspapers as the Norwood News and the Queens Courier.
