Kieran Krug-Meadows, a student in the Urban Reporting Program at the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism, has been chosen for a prestigious ABC News summer internship sponsored by the Carnegie Corporation of New York. Meadows is one of just four graduate journalism students nationally selected for the 10-week internship, which carries a $7,500 stipend. The interns will all work at ABC’s award-winning Brian Ross investigative unit.
Krug-Meadows is the second CUNY J-School student to become a Carnegie Fellow at ABC News. The first was Class of ’07 graduate Angela M. Hill, who now works as a full-time producer and reporter on the Brian Ross staff.
In a letter nominating Krug-Meadows for the position, CUNY J-School Dean Stephen B. Shepard called him “one of the very best in our current class of 60 students.” Shepard went on to say, “Kieran has demonstrated a strong desire to learn everything about our craft, especially the new multimedia tools of storytelling. I’m very impressed by his talent, spirit, dedication, and drive, On top of all this, he’s a stimulating, friendly person.”
A native New Yorker, Krug-Meadows is a graduate of Stuyvesant High School and attended Wesleyan University, where he received his B.A. degree in 2004 with a double major in Film Studies and African-American Studies. He is scheduled to receive his Master of Arts in Journalism in December.
