The Local Media Association has named Class of ’07 alumna Kate Pastor editor of the year in the weekly newspaper category for her stewardship of The Riverdale Press in the Bronx.
In announcing the award, the judges for the suburban and community newspaper professional organization said: “Under Kate Pastor’s leadership, The Riverdale Press delivers a solid, varied news report that plays much bigger than its size. [It has] a good sense of the stories that resonate with readers, from tackling large subjects with a local angle, to human features and good reads. Active online and social-media presence under Pastor’s direction should keep The Press vital.”
