Motion Picture Academy Invites Sabrina Schmidt Gordon to Join Their Ranks

Documentary Professor Sabrina Schmidt Gordon was among the 928 people invited to become members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences on June 25.

In 2017, Gordon was named a Women at Sundance Fellow, following the success of her film “QUEST.” It made its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2017.

Among her other works are BaddDDD Sonia Sanchez, winner of the Best Film Directed by a Woman of Color award at the 2015 African Diaspora International Film Festival, and DOCUMENTED, the story of Pulitzer Prize-winning undocumented journalist Jose Antonio Vargas and his fight for immigration reform.

Gordon graduated from CUNY J-School with a M.A. in Social Journalism in 2016.
