Newmark J-School student-produced journalism, ranging from an investigation of the funeral industry to a look at the political power packed into momos, has earned four national Society of Professional Journalists Mark of Excellence Awards.
Among the winners, announced May 21:

National winners are eligible for the MOE-y, a best-in-show award to be announced next month. The J-School’s NYCity News Service won the inaugural MOE-y in 2015, and a New Service investigative podcast about homeschooling garnered the prize last year.
News of the national winners comes just over a month after J-School outlets took home 11 honors in the SPJ’s Mark of Excellence Awards for Region 1, which covers most of the Northeast.
The news also follows recent Newmark J-School victories in journalism competitions run by the Associated Collegiate Press, the College Media Association, and the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism at Arizona State University.
