The Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at CUNY today announced the launch of its new English-Spanish Bilingual Online Journalism Program, one of the first of its kind worldwide.
Beginning January 2026, students will be able to pursue a Master of Arts degree in Journalism, from anywhere in the world, while developing cutting-edge digital reporting skills alongside bilingual Spanish-English storytelling expertise. Adapted from Newmark J-School’s in-person M.A. in Bilingual Journalism, this accessible format makes it easier for bilingual journalists around the world to join us, where they can explore both U.S. based Latino communities and topics relevant to the wider Spanish-speaking news world.
Recruitment for the program is underway this fall, with applications open on a rolling basis.
Designed for both working professionals and aspiring journalists, the program equips students to produce high-quality journalism across English and Spanish, amplifying underrepresented voices and expanding coverage for bilingual communities. The curriculum blends advanced digital journalism training — including AI and data journalism — with core reporting, writing, and editing courses that prepare graduates to stand out in today’s evolving media landscape.
