Maximo Patiño currently serves as the Director of Alumni Relations & Community Outreach at the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at CUNY. In this role, he leads initiatives to strengthen alumni engagement, cultivate community and employer partnerships, and expand access to graduate journalism education across New York City and beyond.
Patiño previously served as the school’s Director of Admissions, where he oversaw recruitment strategy, scholarship allocation, and the implementation of a human-centered admissions process that helped diversify the school’s applicant pool and broaden its national reach.
Before joining Newmark in 2014, Patiño spent 14 years as Director of Recruitment and Diversity at Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications.
A proud first-generation college graduate, Patiño earned dual B.A. degrees in Advertising Creative and Spanish Literature and Culture from Syracuse University, and a Master of Science in Organizational Leadership from CUNY Lehman College.
