Advanced Sound Design

Course Details

In this advanced 1-credit module, students will learn how to use ProTools to refine their skills in creative sound design for podcast and radio stories. Building on the skills they’ve acquired in the Audio Production Skills Workshop, students will be encouraged to get creative with sound as they explore the possibilities of audio post-production tools in ProTools, including delays, reverb, pitch-shifting and experimental audio processing. This module prepares students to mix, sound design and master their own audio stories and for roles in the audio industry as sound designers for narrative audio. This 5-week module will culminate with each student re-editing, sound designing, mixing and mastering an audio feature story produced by a student in another class.
