Nicole Foy is an investigative reporter at ProPublica, where she’s covered immigration since 2024. Before that, she worked as an enterprise and investigative reporter across the West, often focusing on immigrants, Latino communities, farmworkers and inequality. Her 2025 reporting for ProPublica on the widespread detention and mistreatment of U.S. citizens by immigration officials launched congressional investigations and reports.
She previously worked for CalMatters, the Austin American-Statesman, the Idaho Statesman, the Idaho Press and the Orange County Register. She was a 2020 Community Impact Fellow for Stanford University’s John S. Knight Journalism Fellowship program, leading a multimedia collaboration to produce bilingual COVID-19 information for Spanish-speaking Idahoans.
Nicole graduated from Biola University in Southern California and is the co-founder of Voces Internship of Idaho, a nonprofit that places Idaho students in paid journalism internships. A proud native of California’s Central Valley, she now lives in Manhattan.
