Students in this class learn the roles and skills of multimedia editors across many aspects: assigning and selecting stories, shaping content, addressing ethical considerations, responding to audience needs, supporting news organizations’ missions, and promoting strong reporting and writing. Learn what to look for when editing stories, social posts and text that feature visual and audio presentations. Students take the perspective of editors who must understand the big picture—the look, contribution and impact of their publications—while addressing the details of design and copy editing. The class produces at least one digital project that draws multimedia contributions from the entire student body.
