Housing Options
No doubt you’ve heard that finding affordable housing in the New York City market is tricky at best. But let us reassure you that all our students do find decent places to live.
In addition to search sites such as craigslist, StreetEasy, roommates.com, and Apartments.com, as a student at the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at the City University of New York you have access to resources and housing options that can open new doors in your quest for a roof over your head.
Well before the start of your first semester, you should join the private Facebook group, JSchool Housing NYC. Here, you can discuss the pros and cons of different neighborhoods in the NYC metro area and get leads on classmates looking to sublet rooms or apartments that are becoming vacant.
CUNY offers limited dormitory and apartment space to students through the CUNY Graduate Center Apartments and City College Towers. You can also consider applying to International House New York, an uptown residence for graduate students and young professionals from dozens of countries.
