In his new book, “American Whitelash: A Changing Nation and the Cost of Progress,” Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Wesley Lowery documents the surge of white supremacy in the decade after Barack Obama’s presidency, illustrating how forces of white power retaliated against racial progress and helped to propel the rise of Donald Trump. Interweaving historical analysis with first-hand reporting, Lowery examines the ongoing violence against people of color.
On 11/1, Linda Villarosa, Newmark J-School professor, and Wesley Lowery will share in a discussion about public memory, the ideologies underpinning violence, and how we still might find a way forward.
