Want to learn what it really takes to run a successful independent narrative podcast in the post-boom era of podcasting? Join Newmark J-Schools Audio Journalism program for a candid discussion about independent podcasting. Panelists will share a behind the scenes look at what it’s like to run your own show, the transition from being a host/producer to a boss/owner and share real insights on what it takes to make independently produced narrative podcasts in 2025.

Panelists:

  • Brian Reed, host and creator of Question Everything and formerly host and co-creator of S-Town, The Trojan Horse Affair for Serial Productions.
  • Yowei Shaw, host and creator of Proxy, formerly co-host and producer of Invisibilia on NPR.
  • Evan Ratliff, host and creator of Shell Game, award-winning investigative journalist and author, and former co-host of Longform Podcast.

Moderated by Newmark J-School Director of Audio Journalism, Kalli Anderson.

The panel will be held at the School: 219 West 40th Street, 3rd floor.
