Three years ago, the Black Media Initiative published Why Black Media Matters Now, a comparative analysis between Black and mainstream media during the last presidential election cycle. The research showed that Black media talked about topics of importance to Black communities more often, and connected news events to history in a way mainstream media did not. How has this work evolved in this election cycle?

Join us for a public conversation where we’ll hear from several newsroom leaders who will share their approach, why their work matters, and the support they need.

In this conversation you’ll learn more about:

  • How Black media is covering this election & why it is unique
  • Why Black media is so important during election periods
  • What support Black media needs to be able to cover this, and future elections
