Adia Tucker was appointed director of career services in July 2022 after serving as associate director of career programs and advising since January. During that time, she focused on developing new programs to support both current students and recent graduates while also strengthening and forming partnerships with media organizations.

She joined the Newmark J-School after eight years at CUNY’s Baruch College, where she was an assistant director in its Starr Career Development Center providing one-on-one student coaching and developing programming to support students’ career planning. For much of that period, she also provided life-balance career counseling to private clients.

While at Baruch, Adia wrote grants to support the college’s workforce development initiatives and developed a robust alumni mentoring program. She has presented at the National Career Development Association Conference, the CUNY Faculty Diversity and Inclusion Conference, and the Metropolitan New York College Career Planning Officers Association Conference.

Adia has a B.A. in Literature from Harvard University and an M.S. in Education from Fordham University’s Graduate School of Education, and is a licensed mental health counselor in the State of New York. Prior to becoming a career coach and higher education professional, she worked in the publishing and finance industries.
