Jean Friedman-Rudovsky joined the Center for Community Media as Executive Director in August 2025, bringing nationally recognized expertise in collaborative journalism to support trusted, community-rooted news organizations across the country.

Friedman-Rudovsky co-founded Resolve Philly in 2018, where she pioneered collaborative journalism practices that have been replicated globally. Under her leadership, Resolve became a shining example of how community-responsive journalism can drive both local impact and broader change. She also successfully helped build a workplace centered on values, equity, and intentional practices.

Her collaborative approach gained national attention through the Reentry Project, a groundbreaking media collaboration she organized in Philadelphia that changed policy and practice around formerly incarcerated people re-entering their communities.

Before founding Resolve Philly, Friedman-Rudovsky spent a decade as an award-winning freelance journalist reporting throughout the Global South, particularly Bolivia and Vietnam. Her work appeared in Time Magazine, The New York Times, Vice, Science Magazine, and Bloomberg Businessweek, among others. Her investigative reporting from 13 countries resulted in policy changes, narrative shifts, and contributed to an Oscar-winning film.

Throughout her career, Friedman-Rudovsky’s work has consistently focused on elevating voices from communities of color and amplifying stories and perspectives often overlooked by traditional media. She has trained, consulted, or coached more than 50 newsroom leaders in collaboration, management, equitable workplace practices, fundraising, and community engagement.

Her leadership has been recognized with numerous awards, including the 2022 Al Día Women of Merit for Non-Profit Leadership Award, the 2023 INN Service to Non-Profit News Award, and the 2023 Online News Association Impact Award. She was a 2024 Fellow at Columbia University’s Sulzberger Executive Leadership program. Friedman-Rudovsky graduated from Wesleyan University in 2002 and is fluent in Spanish. She will continue to be based in Philadelphia and travel to New York City on a regular basis.
