Jose Martinez is a veteran journalist who has spent close to 30 years as a reporter in New York’s digital, television and print newsrooms.
For the past 12 years, he has covered mass transit and the city’s evolving transportation network, first as an on-air reporter at NY1 News and currently at THE CITY, where he was a part of the news site’s founding team in 2019. Previously, he was a reporter at the Daily News and the New York Post, where he covered criminal and civil courts, breaking news and the Bronx. He also worked at The Journal News in Westchester County after starting his career at the St. Petersburg Times in Florida.
Martinez is a graduate of the University of Tampa and Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. He lives in Manhattan after previously living in Brooklyn and Queens.
