Marie Gilot heads J+, a program that provides workshops and group training to journalists who need to keep up with a rapidly evolving profession. Marie joined the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at CUNY in September 2015 after a career in journalism and non-profits.
Marie was previously a program officer at the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation in Miami where she oversaw a portfolio of journalism and innovation grants. She started her career in journalism in El Paso, Texas, as a daily newspaper reporter and later became publisher of an online investigative news project.
She is a CUNY graduate with a B.A. in Communications from City College. She also has a Master’s in Political Science from the University of Texas at El Paso and a Master of Public Policy from Princeton University.
