Susan Farkas is a freelance writer and video producer. She has worked in audio at the CBC in her native Canada, where she also learned to produce live TV as the senior producer on a morning show before transitioning to producing long form video. She worked on Canada’s top rated magazine show before achieving her dream of moving to New York.
Once here, Susan worked as a primetime producer at NBC News and was promoted to Senior Producer when NBC launched “Dateline NBC.” She also served as Executive Producer of the documentary unit. She left NBC to head the Radio and Television Section of the United Nations.
She has freelanced for the BBC, MSNBC and Al-Jazeera America and produced videos for numerous non-profits. She has also taught Video News Reporting at Columbia University.
Among her awards are six National Emmys, a Deadline Club award and the RFK Journalism Award for Human Rights Reporting.
