From its founding in 2012 through 2025, CCM offered free monthly workshops, as well as coaching, mentorships, and intensive cohorts focused on building a range of skills to enable small newsrooms serving marginalized and low-wealth communities to build sustainability, grow their audiences, and develop new skills. While we have evolved our programming model, our complete archive of past monthly training sessions remains permanently available as an open educational resource on our YouTube playlist.
We also have an extensive archive of past training session recordings. Topics include:
- Cover local and presidential elections, climate change in your area, and disinformation campaigns targeting communities of color;
- Uncover and analyze AI systems used by companies and local government agencies and their disproportionate impact on immigrant communities;
- Create sustainable business models and practices by speaking to experts and through peer-learning sessions
- Improve and expand skills involving social media, photography, and video
We make our training topic selections based on requests from community media publishers and journalists, along with CCM’s assessment of needs in the sector.
