Molly Greene, Strategy & Legal Director for The Appeal, will talk about her experience at this nonprofit news organization that envisions a world in which systems of support and care, not punishment, create public safety. The Appeal “not only describes values like ‘self and community care,’ but puts them into practice…using a 32-hour workweek and a no-DMs policy on Fridays, as well as company-wide closures, meeting-free weeks, regular 1:1s and providing an equitable and transparent compensation model.” You can read more about them in their two-year anniversary letter, their RJI columns like this one, or in API’s recent report on mental health for journalists.
