In this course, students will receive advanced training in the art and craft of audio interviewing. There is a focus on interviewing for longform audio, including how to build rapport over time, how to handle sensitive topics, how to interview for non-narrated pieces and how to do in-depth interviews when working remotely. We will also cover how to book guests, pre-interview and craft questions for a host and how to cut down a pre-recorded 2-way interview for time — all essential skills for entry-level radio and podcast producer jobs. In-class and homework exercises will focus on building your skills as an interviewer and as an audio producer for interview-based shows.
