Audio News Magazine: Audiofiles

Course Details

This advanced workshop focuses on creating and packaging news, interviews and short features for broadcast and online. Students work as a production team: as producers, reporters and hosts on Audio Files, an award-winning audio news magazine that is recorded live-to-tape and broadcast on local public radio stations and published online and on the Audio Files podcast. Students gain experience reporting features and news, booking guests, lining up a show and hosting and recording live. They develop specialized skills and professional caliber clips applicable to future work on local and national radio news magazines (Morning Edition, All Things Considered, Latino USA…)  and in the rapidly expanding field of news and current affairs podcasts (The Daily, Up First, Planet Money…).

Capstone Eligible Course. Capstone projects must have an NY focus/angle (due to our radio audience) and be approved in advance by the director of audio.

Prerequisites: Advanced Audio Reporting and News Writing or Audio Documentary, or permission of the director of audio journalism.
