In honor of Women’s History Month, Newmark J-School’s National Association of Black Journalists and Women in Media Clubs will moderate a discussion with distinguished alumna Noëlle D. Lilley. Noëlle will talk about her Newmark and career experiences and what it’s like working in the broadcasting space.
Noëlle is a 2020 graduate and Ida B. Wells Scholar from the J-School, where she was the commencement class speaker and president of the National Association of Black Journalists.
She lives in New York City where she works as a television reporter for News 12 Networks and is working on her first novel. Her work can be found in OkayPlayer, Chicago Reader, theGrio, CNN, The Nation, and elsewhere.
Noëlle graduated cum laude in 2018 with her Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University, studying creative writing, film, and television news. She cut her reporting teeth in Bakersfield, California; Phoenix, Arizona; and Washington D.C., where she covered the 2018 Thousand Oaks shooting, 2017 Congressional baseball shooting, and other national stories. Her passion lies in hyperlocal storytelling that speaks to equity, representation, and social justice.
