Farms are facing unprecedented climate impacts, swift funding cuts, policy changes and a targeted agricultural labor force under the current administration.

Paralleling this, journalists are overwhelmed with the plethora of news coverage to tackle. However, amidst all of this, food movements and small farmers here in New York are moving forward, and newsrooms like NPQ and projects like The New Harvest are working to create civic space to help tell these stories of joy and resilience.

This is an interactive event, with a brief panel then divided into smaller groups for story circles that bring together journalists, farmers and policy experts to share how storytelling can help to showcase the solutions around our current political, environmental, and social challenges.

Hosts:

  • Sara Hudson, NPQ CEO and Interim Editor in Chief
  • Angely Mercado, Climate Reporter and Fact Checker
  • Iris Crawford, Editor, Climate Journalist and Creator of The New Harvest Project
