Born and raised on ‘Oahu and Kanaka Maoli, she holds B.A.s in journalism and sociology from the University of Hawai’i and an MFA in creative nonfiction writing from Portland State University. Her memoir, “Local,” won a Honolulu Book Award in 2024.
