The mission of the Newmark Graduate School of Journalism’s Department of Public Safety is to provide a safe and secure environment for our campus community with an emphasis on civility and inclusion.
We do this by taking a community approach to campus safety by developing partnerships with the students, faculty, and staff of this diverse institution. The public safety team will strive to protect, serve, and work within the organizational culture that fosters trust, mutual respect, and cooperation within community we serve.
REPORTING AN EMERGENCY
1. Call 911 to report emergencies directly to the New York City Police, Fire and Emergency Medical Services. If calling 911 while on campus dial 8 followed by 911. Call Security & Public Safety at x7777 to expedite emergency response.
2. Call x7777 from any campus phone to contact the Security Desk during regular business hours.
3. If you see smoke or fire, pull one of the bright red Fire Alarm Pull Boxes located next to all fire exits. Lift the cover and pull down the handle to activate the alarm on your floor and the one above it.
