Ravitch Fiscal Reporting Program

The five-day fiscal session enters its eighth year with sessions on budgets, bonds, pensions, and tax incentives. The 26 journalists attending is a new record. The program is funded by New York civic leader and Newmark J-School supporter Richard Ravitch and pays all travel, lodging, and food expenses for participants. It's led by Greg David, director of the Business and Economics Reporting Program at the Newmark J-School.

In Under the Skin, Villarosa lays bare the forces in the American health-care system and society that cause Black people to “live sicker and die quicker” compared to their white counterparts. The event will be moderated by Newmark J-School Dean Graciela Mochkofsky.

Black Media Summit

Newmark ABJ is hosting its second annual Black Media Summit. This virtual event will span two days and include five panels centering on the experiences of Black journalists and institutions committed to telling our stories. The theme of this year’s Black Media Summit is Breaking Out of Your Niche, which will focus on discussing the many different ways we, as people in the media industry, can execute and support journalism without being put in a box.
